In the 1950s comedy series, The Life of Riley", "a lovable lug turns order into chaos" - how apt. One day the skies are clear and then the heavens opened and the winds accelerated and it seemed like it would never end. Flooding, 90 mph winds, downed trees, and hundreds of thousands without power for days and days. That was the life of winter storm Riley, the first significant nor'easter of 2018. Prudence dictated staying at home and off the roads during most of the storm but once the rains stopped it was hard to reign in my curiosity. Surfline, a surf-app we follow religiously, has reported waves 20-25 feet high off Coast Guard Beach on Cape Cod and 10-15 feet high off parts of Long Island.
When I got to our beloved Sagg Main Beach, it was apparent it had been badly battered and Mother Nature was still playing with the tides and surf. So this is a small sample of the life of this Riley.

Finally watched this one, wonderfully dramatic scenes buffered by the soft melodic tune. Some of these would be excellent choices for your 2019 calendar!

Wonderful photos of the storm. The sky was ominous. The waves were impressive. Thank you.

Very pretty photos. So much beach erosion though and it is easy to see the power of a storm such as Riley.
