Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this weekend, The Montauk Artists Association will sponsor the Memorial Day Weekend on the Green Art Show. I was selected to be among the 90 odd artists to participate this year and I can't tell you how excited (and anxious) we are.
In the past several weeks, we made some additions to our little gallery by adding a much needed back door and also a French door to give us back that back-door wall space. We've rehearsed twice erecting the tent, weighing it down, and hanging the art in our backyard, and now feel we're as prepared as we can possibly be. There are lots of new waves this year presented on wonderful materials like metal, canvas, and acrylic, with unusual names like "Second Thoughts", "Curtain Call", and "Lit from Within".
I hope you'll come by the show - it's always fun, and the weather is going to be perfect for strolling around the green. It "opens" at noon tomorrow (Friday) and at 10:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, and it runs until 6:00 p.m. each day.
Come one, come all, you'll have a good time in Montauk this weekend.
P.S. Peter and I are also participating in the 31st Annual Springs Improvement Society Members' Art Show at Ashawagh Hall in Springs, East Hampton this weekend. This indoor show will be running from May 22th to the 25th, with a reception being held on Friday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m. serving wine and hor d'oeuvres. There's a $5.00 charge at the door to get in, but what a wonderful cause to support - our own little gallery in the Springs.
Hope all goes well! That the sun is out and the wind remains calm!!!
-and you can say (quote Ray Stevens) "Into the tent they went !!"
