Open-Window is now four years old. It's so hard to believe ... time has passed so quickly. This has been a year of change for Open-Window and me. Open-Window continues to focus on Photography, Travel and Food with posts now several times a month rather than several times a week. As much as I love writing, and especially love writing posts for Open-Window, priorities shifted last January when I started to photograph waves. Since then, I have shown my wave images in several galleries, sold several favorites, and created Claudia Ward Photography to showcase the stars. This is truly exciting and I'll continue to share this photographic journey with you here on Open-Window, along with more recipes, travel suggestions, and general observations of life in our neck of the woods.
This year began with a visit to friends in Rincon, Puerto Rico which is where anyone could find me in the water photographing waves. It was wonderful, warm and very rewarding.
In the spring, Peter and I joined Valérie Jardin for her photography workshop in Normandy. Valérie is a Minnesota-based photographer, originally from Normandy, who I have followed for several years on the internet and now have finally met (not unlike Barbara Andolsek, the painter from California).
Art shows and a gallery opening in Chatham, on Cape Cod, all featuring my wave images, consumed most of my time from early spring to fall.
By late September, Peter and I hit the road again on what became a 30-day road trip along the northern New England coast up to and around Nova Scotia. We were so fortunate to have the time to spend two full weeks in Nova Scotia which may be Canada's second smallest but it's still pretty big and it deserves as much time as anyone can give it. Stunning at every turn, with incredibly beautiful beaches.
Our timeshare on Paradise Island gave me the opportunity to try to photograph the Bahamian stormy seas in November.
Then Christmas was on the west coast this year, where my nephew and his wife reside in Irvine. With that holiday behind us, we packed our car with all our gear and my younger sister, and spent several days enjoying the spectacular beauty of this coast on our way north to San Francisco. Pacific waves have a character all their own - proving that, in fact, all ocean waves are not alike. Small shore breaks in Newport Beach proved themselves to be equally as fascinating to me as the giant rollers that pushed themselves shoreward on the Monterey Peninsula.
Here, as a small token of my appreciation, is a slide show highlighting the events of the 2013, from Puerto Rico to Nova Scotia, from Normandy to the California Coast.

I sincerely hope you enjoy it and thank you so much for your continued support. Please stay tuned.
this is a fantastic slide show- I always forget how beautiful your photos are and when they are in a montage like this, it is freshly memorable; all of the amazingly gorgeous places you have been and photographed. I do love your food shots and nature in your own backyard though.

I am "gobsmacked" with this. Each section gets better--from France to Nova Scotia and San Fran, with LI in between. Thank you for capturing and sharing the beauty in the world. We must get you published!

Your photography is fantastic. Come see me in Beaufort, SC and photograph our waves at Hunting Island State Park.
