Edward Mackenzie, the artist/owner of the Richmond Store Gallery in Richmond, Maine, is returning to England soon and is having a sale of his remarkable art work before he goes. Peter and I stopped in Richmond on our way back from Nova Scotia recently to see "Monty" and his lovely wife Runa, you see they're part of my extended family and two my my personal favorites.
Over the years, I'd heard about Monty's art and seen photographs of a number of his projects but I'd never seen it in person and I was truly blown away. Referred to as "assemblage art or 'coda' craft work", this three dimensional art must be seen in person. Monty "works mainly with 'found' objects - old and new manufactured objects, to create unique sculptural art" and it's fun discovering its "humor, allegory, and/or history".
If you are in Maine or New England or are just passing through on these lovely fall days, do stop by to see his art. It is unique and fun, and I know you'll be welcomed with open arms, and Monty and Runa's signature smiles.
The Richmond Store Gallery is located at 54 Main Street in Richmond, Maine and the farewll sale begins Wednesday November 6th and ends Tuesday November 12th. You can contact "Monty" at the gallery on (207) 737-4724.
