Kristin, You are lucky because you have more access to fresh beans. If you can use fresh beans in the pod, adjust the recipe as follows:
8 ounces fresh small white (navy) beans in the pod, shelled, and
8 ounces fresh cranberry beans in the pod, shelled

Had this for lunch ... just delicious.
