Gardening is taken up every spring by many a novice but none more enthusiastically than a friend of mine. Renovations completed on their Indiana home, Roxanne turned her attentions to the landscape and with a voluminous tome on the topic in hand, she began planning the gardens. The results are a glorious symphony of color that performs for nearly half the year.
The gardens begin revealing their treasures in late March and will continue to do so on cue throughout the warm spring and summer months. In May when we saw the gardens, the yellow and white daffodils had already made their exit from the stage, replaced now with tulips et al dressed in royal purples, blues and pastels. Demanding attention at center stage however were bright red peonies planted along the walkway - sentries to all who might come.
These are some of May's "performers" in the gardens at Bye the Beach Cottage.

Beautiful slide show, Claudia. I have all I can do to keep my lawn in order and watch over a few planters -- mint, basil and parsley!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Wow, now there's a passion and natural talent to go with it as well.

Nancy, You must be getting our rain. They've been predicting rain and it never comes - we wish it would to break the humidity. Glad you enjoyed the slide show. Roxanne's very proud of her garden, as she should be. By the way Happy Birthday, I hear you have one coming up.

Thanks ....that was perfect for a miserable day like today-woke up to pouring rain-it has stopped for now but is grey and humid. Your beautiful flower show perked me up.
