Last Saturday evening was the opening reception for my final featured art show at The White Room Gallery, called "Modern Vintage". In addition to my painterly wave images, the show features the incredible dynamic and diverse work of Sally Breen, Scott Hewitt, and Charles Waller. Sally paints "majestic swathes of sea and sky, land and light". Scott's "style transcends simple photorealism by his use of almost hyper-real hues and strong contrast"; painting "everyday objects like a peeled orange or crayon box transports the object into art". Charles uses vintage materials, like antique wedding dresses, to create multi-media pieces that make the "audience think" and "walk away with a smile".

The reception was well attended, especially for a post-season, post-holiday Saturday. Music filled the gaps in conversation, which were few and far between. Chilled Montauk Pearl oysters were served outside on the patio, and guests were warmed inside with homemade cheese pastries, Port-infused cheese and fruit, cups of homemade pumpkin and apple pie, and some wine. One piece even sold during the reception - Scott Hewitt's Pepsi Machine. Needless to say we were all thrilled.
The exhibit can be seen Thursdays through Sundays, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from now until December 23rd. There's parking on Main Street these days, and lots more behind the gallery, so stop in to see some truly eye-catching art.
