The forecast for Labor Day Weekend for the Hamptons was initially pretty bleak. Hurricane Hermine was not only going to visit with extreme tides and extremely strong winds, but she was going to linger just off the coast, ruining the entire weekend. Fortunately that didn't come to pass. The ocean surely did get churned up and tides were quite high but not as damaging as originally forecast. We had a great time visiting our favorite beach (Sagg Main) every day to see what effect Hermine was having on our shores. I found it particularly entertaining to observe the lifeguards every day - now you see them, now you don't - a chair one day, a mound the next, railing on the deck in the dunes by Monday, and finally the parking lot. Summer in the Hamptons is officially over.
